About Me
Who am I?
My name is Matthew Stein, and I've been building quality websites since 2000 and fixing computers since before that. It started out as a hobby (it's amazing what you can learn by breaking the family computer right before Christmas dinner—sorry Mom) but since then I've earned a BS in Computer and Information Sciences, and now I do it full time. What do I do?
In short, pretty much everything to do with technology. I build computers, write software, design and code web pages, fix computers, install home theater systems, you name it. I also like to teach people how to do all of those things. If you'd like more details on each of those, you can click on the other links at the top of the page, or contact me and I'll be happy to tell you more. What's with the name?
One of the first websites I got involved in was an online role-playing community (think Dungeons & Dragons or World of Warcraft) and one character name I used was "Amelith." That's what I named my first website, and I've kept it ever since.
Alchemy is defined as a "process of transmuting a common substance, usually of little value, into a substance of great value." Technology on its own isn't a lot of good, mostly just a bunch of wires and plastic, but with the right tools, the right configuration, and a little knowledge, we can use it to do amazing things.
